How It Works

Play matches all summer

This challenge is built to help players get more real match experience. Players can play UTR matches or non-UTR matches, but both players must agree before the match is counted.

1

Register

Players register online and pay the $50 challenge fee.

2

Join the list

After registration, players are added to a private Google Sheet with other participants.

3

Schedule matches

Players contact each other, set up matches, and agree if the match is UTR or non-UTR.

4

Report scores

Both players must report and agree on the score for the match to count.

Player List

Private player sheet

Once players register, they will receive access to a private Google Sheet for participants only. This sheet helps players find opponents, see contact information, view level information, and track match activity.

  • Player name and contact information
  • UTR or estimated level
  • Matches played
  • Wins and losses
  • Ladder position
Match Types

UTR and non-UTR matches

Players can play matches that count toward UTR or matches that do not count toward UTR. This must be agreed on by both players before the match is played.

Important: If players want the match entered as a UTR match through GSTA, both players must be part of the GSTA UTR Club.

Rules

Simple rules, more matches

The goal is to help players compete more often, learn how to arrange matches, and build confidence through real match play.

Both players must agree

Both players must agree on the match type, score, and result before it is counted.

UTR matches require GSTA Club membership

If the match is going to be entered through GSTA for UTR, both players must be members of the GSTA UTR Club.

Players report scores

Players are responsible for reporting scores to GSTA. If scores are not submitted and agreed on, the match will not count.

Challenge up the ladder

Players may challenge someone up to 3 spots above them on the ladder. If they win, they move into that player’s spot.

One ladder challenge per week against same player

Players may play the same person more than once, but only one match per week against that player can affect ladder position.

Outside matches can count

Tournament matches, match day matches, and approved outside matches may count if they are reported properly.

Eligibility

End-of-summer recognition

At the end of the challenge, GSTA will recognize players based on participation, match results, and ladder standings. Final recognition and awards will depend on participation numbers.
